Toddler Program

Our Toddler program consists of quality care and individualized care for each child. We understand how important it is to care for Toddlers. We promote a loving, nurturing, safe, educational and secure environment so our Toddlers can grow and learn.

An individual Feeding Plan/Toileting Plan and Educational Plan is tailored for each Toddler.

Toddler Growth and Development

A remarkable milestone is achieved as a child enters this stage of development. This ability to move about is reached by children who are able to walk. Other children may reach this milestone by finding other means of mobility if a handicap prevents conventional abilities.

GW/EN believes that all children have the right to grow and learn in a warm, safe and loving environment. In out Toddler Program, your child will have the opportunity to increase his or her independence while exploring his/her surroundings.

Ratio
Our ratio for our Toddlers is 1 teacher to 6 Toddlers.

Age
We accept all Toddlers from the 11/2 to 21/2 years old.

Hours
Our Toddler room operation hours are 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Staff
The staff at GW is equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to help foster your child's growth and development. Here are just a few of the Golden procedures that your child's teacher will use throughout the day.

Potty Training
When our Toddlers show readiness for toileting, we implement a Toileting Plan with parents' participation.

Nutritional Meals
Breakfast, two snacks, lunch and dinner are served daily for children enrolled during serving hours. A schedule of serving hours and a two-week menu is posted on the Parent Information Board.

Diapers
For those Toddlers that are not ready for Potty Training, we request parents to bring daily or leave diapers for their Toddlers. Parent is given a daily report informing them of all diaper changes and time of diaper changes.

Transition Tips
We, at Golden Wings Academy, understand that each child is an individual and that they develop at their own pace. For this reason, we invite parents to be active participants in the decision to transition, or move, your child to the next classroom. The Observation will help parents and staff determine when a child is ready to move on to the next classroom. A letter is provided to help you and your child know what is expected in the new learning environment. Your child may also have the opportunity to "visit" the new classroom several times before joining the group permanently.

Daily Communicator
At the end of each day, you will be given a parent communicator that will give you a look into how successful your child's day was. This informative daily document provides observations of a caring and educational nature.

Learning Opportunities
GW/EN provides daily, theme-related, age-appropriate activities to help Toddlers learn about themselves and how they fit into the world around them.

We know that Toddlers are striving for independence and self-esteem. Experiencing new activities and successfully completing tasks very important to them. We provide an environment so that your child may choose a new adventure or explore the comfort and safety of old favorites.

Because Toddlers learn through play and a "hands0on" approach to the exploration of materials, ample space with a variety of selections of learning materials is provided.

Through our weekly focus on Self-Help Skills, Toddlers participate in valuable experiences that will help them become more independent. They explore new tasks that refine eye-hand coordination, fine and gross motor development, and problem solving.

As a Toddler's independence grows stronger, so does the natural curiosity about the world. Knowing that the first years of life are the most important, we, at Golden Wings, want to encourage and foster that inquisitive nature in a safe, loving and nurturing environment.
