About
the Golden Food Program
Golden
Foods Program is a private, non-profit organization dedicated
to helping child care providers make the most out of the Child
and Adult Care Food program (CACFP). We have both nutritionist
and child development specialists on our staff, making us
well qualified to serve the providers who serve the children
in their care.
This
Child and Adult Care Food Program was established by Congress
to ensure that children enrolled in day care eat nutritious,
well-balanced meals. Childcare providers that participate
in the program receive reimbursement for their food costs
if they serve meals that meet program requirements.
Golden Wings Food Program is a CACFP " sponsor". We process
the paper work and make payments to child care providers.
As food program specialists, we help child care homes and
centers run their food program efficiently. Our goal is to
help eligible Family Child Care Providers serve nutritious
meals, teach children about healthy eating, and receive the
most money possible from the Child Care Food Program.
Child Care providers can rely on a friendly, experienced staff
that provides up-to-date information on topics relating to
the child care profession with an emphasis on nutrition, food
preparation, kitchen safety, food guidelines, and children
nutrition activities.

About
the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
Congress
established the Child Care Food Program in 1968 to improve
the health of children in child care centers both by improving
the nutritional quality of meals and by promoting healthy
eating. In 1975, the program was expanded again to include
adult day care centers. The program is run nationally by the
Food Nutrition Services, an agency of the United States Department
of Agriculture (USDA).
The Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Maternal
and Child Health administer the program. Golden Food Program.
(GWFP) has a contract from the state to provide program services
directly to Family Child Care Homes and Centers. Family child
care homes must have a "sponsor" such as GWFP to participate
in the program. Child Care Centers can choose to apply for
funds directly from the state, but may prefer the benefits
of GWFP, Inc.'s services.
Parents are faced with a variety of decisions when it comes
to the care of their children. Choosing a childcare provider
who participates in the food program is a decision parents
can feel good about. Children attending daycare at a participating
Golden Food Program Inc, provider's home received well-balanced,
nutritious foods.
As a CACFP sponsor, we:
help child
care homes and centers get set up to meet program requirements
so they can begin receiving reimbursement;
file monthly
claims for providers;
mail checks
on a dependable monthly schedule with a statement of how the
reimbursement was calculated;
make sure
that providers remain in compliance with program requirements;
help providers
receive the best possible reimbursement rate by keeping abreast
of program changes and maintaining an up-to-date database
of program participants;
provide
personalized, one-on-one training at the providers convenience;
offer periodic
workshops of interest to providers that meet licensing training
requirements;
provide
a useful handbook including procedures, nutrition information,
meal-planning tips, and other helpful information;
publish
a quarterly newsletter with recipes and activities to teach
children about healthy eating;
maintain
a courteous, professional staff, including a trained nutritionist,
to answer your questions.
